Laser varicose vein surgery
Endovenous Laser Treatment - EVLT
EVLT is a modern treatment of varicose veins using the capabilities of a special laser. It is an alternative to traditional, painful vein-clamping surgery with a long recovery time. EVLT (endovenous laser treatment of varicose veins) makes the procedure faster, less complicated and less painful, and most importantly, minimizes the risk of complications. With very high efficiency, it also speeds up recovery and limits bleeding and bruising.
In Blumental Clinic, we use laser ablation, a modern solution for the treatment of varicose veins of the lower limbs. With the help of ultrasound scanning, the finding on the skin is plotted. A puncture of the sphenoid below the knee is then performed, where a guidewire is inserted followed by a catheter. Once the guidewire is pulled out, a laser fibre is inserted in its place. The laser beam produces a high temperature that closes the damaged blood vessel without damaging its surroundings. The entire procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia. The entire treatment lasts from 30 to 90 minutes and always depends on the individual findings of the patient with varicose veins.
Endevenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) enables fast and effective laser treatment of varicose veins. Our clinic uses the LEONARDO® DUAL laser generator from Biolitec, which is connected to a 400 micrometer diameter radial laser fiber. The fiber emits 1470 nm wavelength radiation in the operated vein, which is converted into heat in the operated vein, closing the affected vein and allowing it to be absorbed. The entire varicose vein removal procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and ultrasound guidance.
Don't hesitate to find out what treatment or procedure is best for you
The Toshiba XARIO 100MX fully digital ultrasound diagnostic ultrasound mapping system is a device that allows probing of the affected vein without the need for major incisions or, in some cases, without leaving a scar (probing of the vein is done only with a puncture, which does not leave a scar). The biggest advantage of this procedure is the minimal pain after the procedure. Postoperative recovery is very short. This is also associated with a quick return to work.
Satisfied customers
This happens after the treatment
- With the EVLT method, the patient is checked within 24 hours after the procedure and can board the plane 24 hours after the procedure with compression stockings and a prophylactic dose of low-molecular-weight heparin.
- With the foam sclerotization method, the patient can take a flight 48 hours after the procedure
- Can walk immediately after surgery
- Must not play sports for 3 weeks
The length of surgery is very individual depending on the extent of the patient’s findings, but ranges from 30 to 90 minutes in general.
A stay at the clinic is not required. You can leave the clinic just a few hours after the procedure.
In EVLT surgery, the entire varicose vein removal procedure is performed under local anaesthesia only.
