Regular Exercise is Important

Even 30 minutes exercise can lead to results. It is recommended to strengthen the veins by doing special gymnastic exercises in which your legs are in elevated position. You should be alternating different aerobic exercises according to your preference or season. You should not exhaust your legs and body, as with problematic varicose veins it is as risky as complete lack of sport and exercise. You need at least two days per week to rest.

Active exercising after the operation

It is quite common, that physically active individuals suffering from varicose veins have worries that they are going to have their varicose veins removed.

They are often interested whether the treatment in itself would not have an impact on their daily routine and condition. Luckily, with today’s advanced technologies and possibilities of treatment, recovery is very fast.

To patients who underwent the treatment we recommend not to neither increase their body weight or do any physical activity that would increase their heart rate for at least 24-48 hours after the treatment. A few days after the treatment, we recommend to our patients, to re-start their usual fitness routine. For example, it was proven that the aerobic exercise lowers the venous pressure. Safe exercise 2-3days after the treatment of varicose veins include walking, water aerobic, swimming, yoga and stretching.

Hosiery during Exercise

It is important to point out, that it is better to avoid high impact exercises such as running, until at least 3-5 days after the treatment or until it is permitted by the specialist.

Some doctors even recommend wearing compression hosieryduring the exercise, to increase the blood flow and to lower the exertion of treated place.
